Another new Prince album coming in 2019, via Jay-Z and Tidal

The Prince Estate and Tidal announced today that the streaming service will exclusively launch an unpublished music album by the deceased artist. According to the announcement, the album will contain "unpublished music extracted from the vast archive of Prince's Vault recordings".

The album, scheduled for release in 2019, will air exclusively on Tidal for fourteen days and will be available for download seven days after its debut, although the label that will distribute the album has not been clear: the announcement only says, "A The physical version of the world is planned through The Prince Estate after the exclusive digital premiere at Tidal. "

The launch will be independent of another album containing unpublished material will come in September, real estate consultant Troy Carter told Variety to be launched in Warner Bros. Records; Today's announcement explicitly states: "The association of the album with Tidal does not imply any Prince's music catalog that is subject to previous agreements with Warner Brothers Records, Inc." This means that the material will be after 1996, when Prince's initial agreement with the label has ended.

The announcement also said that the new version "marks a continuation of the Prince's association in 2015 with Tidal", through which he released his albums "HITnRUN Phase One" and "two phases", and says, "This concludes the unresolved legal issues between the Prince and Tidal estate 'which had been ongoing following the confused state of affairs commercial artist after his death from an accidental overdose in April 2016. Some versions of Prince remain available exclusively for the transmission to Tidal.

The owner of Estate and Tidal Jay-Z is working on the selection of songs for the album. "Our only goal is to share Prince's music with his fans as he wanted," Jay-Z said in the release. "After a serious and honest conversation with him, he chose Tidal as a partner for" HITnRUN Phase One "and" HITnRUN Second Phase ", and we will continue to respect and honor the Prince's lost legacy and wishes with this new collection. "

Carter, speaking on behalf of the estate, said, "I am very pleased that this has been resolved, and we pay tribute to the relationship between the Prince and Tidal this hope album that fans hear the new music and the experience of the Prince's genius .. "

The agreement between Tidal and The Prince Estate was approved on May 9, 2018 by the Probate Court overseeing The Prince Estate.
