Beyoncé And Jay Z's Trip To Cuba Did Not Violate Sanctions, US Says

Treasury responds to the request of the Republicans to see if the musicians violated the right wedding anniversary trip

Beyonce and Jay Z touring Old Havana as a bodyguard, left, and tour guide, right, accompany them.

Couple powerful American music industry Beyoncé and Jay Z did not violate American sanctions against Cuba to travel to the communist-ruled island last year, a review of the United States government has found.

"We found no indication that American sanctions were violated, and we conclude that the ... decision not to pursue a formal investigation was reasonable," said the review by the Office of Inspector General dated Wednesday Department Treasury.

The four-day visit in April 2013 was a cultural journey that is licensed by the Treasury Department, organizers said at the time.

The longstanding American trade embargo against Cuba prevents most Americans from traveling to the island without a license granted by the United States government.

Two Cuban-American members of Congress, both Republicans representing South Florida and supporters of a tough stance on Cuba, had asked the Treasury Department for information on what type of license that the couple obtained for the trip.

Beyonce and Jay Z celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in Havana and were greeted by large crowds as they walked in the Cuban capital. They were immediately recognized despite the last half century of ideological conflict that separates the two countries.

The visit was planned as a cultural visit "people to people" and involved no meetings with Cuban officials, or the typical tourist activities, such as trips to the beach, organizers said at the time.

The trip includes visits with Cuban musicians and artists, as well as several night clubs where live music was performed, and some of the best restaurants in private management of the city, known as "tastes".

Beyonce and Jay Z were among a group of American stars visited the island in recent years, joining actors Bill Murray, Sean Penn and James Caan. But the couple was the first to cause a stir wherever they went.

While the ban has remained in place, the Obama administration has eased restrictions on travel to Cuba for academic, religious and cultural programs.

NAS RANKS DRAKE & JAY Z'S LATEST ALBUMS AS NEW CLASSICS

In a Reddit AMA, he names “nothing was the same” and “Magna Carta Holy Grail “as two modern classics

Not long after sitting down with Fuse to reflect on their debut album Illmatic for our special three parts 20, Nas stopped by for a Reddit AMA to talk directly with fans about his game-changing debut.

Besides talking Illmatic, the estimated MC also shared their picks for the most significant albums of rap culture - the creation of all time - and purists are surprised to see that he took two major titles at that level 2,013.

" Illmatic has been regarded as the best hip hop album of all time and was emblematic of the impact left the hip hop " wrote a user on Reddit . " What other hip hop albums you think was significant in shaping culture? "

After offering some of the usual suspects - Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and Eric B. & Rakim from Paid in Full - Nas named a recent LPs, including the latest offers of Drake and Jay Z.

Well, to be precise, Nas wrote , " the latest album by Drake Holy Grail, " but we're assuming that means two albums and is not accidentally calling Drake Nothing was the same with the name of Jay Last .

That's still a great endorsement. I NWTS received universally positive reviews, but most critics tempered their praise. Rolling Stone praised, but rebuked Drake for some “some really cheesy lines” while HipHopDX beat him with the connection handle, but that conviction, “pop -rap heavyweight.”

MORE: Watch 3 parts Fuse retrospective Nas ' Illmatic at 20’

Magna Charter Holy Grail ... currently has a 60 on Metacritic , meaning it received reviews " mixed or average " , so having Nas adopted in the same category as Illmatic is quite important ( either that or you just feel particularly generous with Jay after Coachella detect together).

Based on sales, the fans have responded voraciously these two albums, even if the critical response has been more measured. So maybe when those records celebrate their achievements of 20 years, we'll be mentioning one or two in the same category as Illmatic.

Or ... maybe not. Although it seems unlikely either will never get that much register universal worship, Nas said that these two versions as “classics of all time" is a good indicator of resilience is higher than many thought at first .

Jay-Z’s Bling From ‘Whites Are Devils’ Group

Jay Z and his wife Beyonce at Nets game Tuesday.

Blacks are the fathers and mothers of civilization, the white men are the devil, the Christian god is nothing more than a ghost and only a small percentage of people understand the world.

These are just some of the beliefs behind the glitz - striking five percent Nation medallions worn by Jay Z and Carmelo Anthony.

Last week, all eyes on the Barclays Center were no better means of Jay Z , Beyonce - but mountain -sized gold pendant swinging neck rapper as the couple sat on the court. Asked once if the group symbol - a star of eight points with the number 7 in the middle - held no meaning for him, rapper shrugged: “A little."
So what do you think Five Percenters?

"The reason is that the black man is God and created the universe, and is stronger physically and intellectually stronger and fairer naturally," says Michael Muhammad Knight, author of two books on the radical group.
“Whiteness is weak and wicked and bottom - basically just a naughty boy that needs to be corrected.”

The group was founded in Harlem in 1964 by Clarence Smith, who later changed his name to Allah, a former student of Malcolm X who disagreed with the Nation of Islam on the nature of God.

Smith rejected the idea of a supernatural deity and instead believed that all black men have God in them and
that black women were “lands" but took a complementary role subordinate to their gods.
The idea is to train, says Knight.

“Every time someone says to accept their conditions of oppression and slavery and pray to an invisible god - what kind of God are only used to keep people and keep people looking at themselves as a solution to their problems, " he says.” If there is a problem, no one will solve it for you except yourself. "

Five Percenters are not considered Muslims, but its name comes from the Nation of Islam believed that 5 percent of humanity are “poor righteous teachers " that exist to enlighten the masses about the truth of existence.

Members sometimes refer to themselves as “scientists" to take home the search for truth. And they face a difficult task because under their system of beliefs, 10 percent of the world's population controls the other 85 percent by spreading the belief in a "mystery of God “.

To show roaders, members must learn the Supreme Mathematics and Supreme Alphabet - powerful tools to decipher the meaning of the universe. Meanwhile, each letter and number represents a concept, for example, 1 is knowledge, 2 is the wisdom, while A and B is Allah is to be, or were born. The number 7 pendant Jay Z stands for God.

Caucasians, while not in a state of exaltation in the narrative of the Five Percenters.

“The first lesson I learned from the percentage Five was simple: White people F- k Seriously Whites are devils, “Knight, 36, who is white and converted to Islam as a teenager, once wrote.

He insisted that the movement has welcomed and that he believes the controversial sentiment as a statement about power rather than biology.

"For me, it is that it is marked as privileged in the power relations of this society," he says.
Some fans take exception to those who transform their flag in a fashion accessory.

“Jay Z is not an active member - no one has guaranteed for him “Saladin Allah, a representative of the Upstate Group, told The Post.” It was always understood that you do not use the royalty if not fully subscribes to life. "

Jay Z & Kanye West Reassert The Throne At SXSW 2014

Her two-hour set provided career hits - covering and " N **** s in Paris" three times consecutively

In case there was any doubt about who currently occupies the throne of rap, Kanye West and Jay Z combined reaffirmed its majesty Wednesday night during a show sponsored by Samsung at the Austin Music Hall.
Sure, SXSW is supposed to be up-and - coming artists , but when you're looking at two of the most important and consistent rappers performing in an area normally occupied by artists with a fifth of Jay or ' Ye 's fame , you can 't avoid dropping the jaw and remain open for the entire two-hour set .
Even in the intimate space , Kanye and Jay managed some theatrical surprises . Instead of taking the old -fashioned stage , Jay and Kanye emerged from two metal at opposite ends of the seat boxes.

So while Kanye came before the audience , Jay started the show on a platform that was actually ground level behind the fans, but right in front of the balcony crowd. Fans Balcony wheel that had consigned themselves to witness the spectacle from afar were suddenly confronted with Hova at a distance of one meter.
Naturally , they were frightened .

A burst of cell phones and screams accompanied the duo as they went HAM on " HAM " and "Who Gon Stop Me" . Then Jay fell back into metal bucket and the two took the main stage, next to " Otis " and "Welcome to the Jungle" , all delivered emphatically and without backing vocal tracks as a crutch .
It is difficult to pinpoint the highlight of a series that covers everything from "Big Pimpin ' " to " Tom Ford " and " Jesus Walks " a " sanctified" ( Yeezus ' song on Rick Ross ' Mastermind ) . But seeing Kanye bust out a rare smile as he handles the lines of police officers in " 99 Problems " was a great reminder that apart from being the hip hop heavyweights , these two are also fans of the work of others. Hell, even Yeezus gets giddy over the " 99 Problems " !

Later in the series, Kanye materialized out of the box in the back room and treated the crowd to a balcony - up close and personal interpretation of "Runaway ," which comes with a kilt - silver studded (a change of wardrobe kilt leather Givenchy rocked earlier in the show) . If high-end kilts are a bit too bourgeois for your taste ,

Kanye offered an olive branch of fashion to South America for breaking his shirt with the giant face of a fierce Rottweiler ( it looks like you could buy at any truck road stop , though Givenchy , too). Sadly , Jay did not change in a Versace shirt depicting a bald eagle carrying the American flag at any time.
The couple wrapped whole SXSW 2014 with three consecutive versions of "N **** s in Paris ," a buoyant firecracker that somehow defies the law of diminishing returns. That encore and the show itself , Jay and Kanye showed that sometimes, more of it is actually very welcome.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Sultry Dance Makes S Case For Marriage

NEW YORK - your gift is that they all be all . They are the mimic octopus pop culture to shape with the notable triple power of these beings displacement , color blending and handle in many directions at once. Jay -Z : Man dealt drugs and shot his own brother , a guest of the President in his inaugural box , a pure artist , a money man who agrees to a " new Sinatra " and by repeating it made that way. Beyoncé : God-fearing girl from Texas, scantily clad and sexualized vixen mononymous superstar and feminist icon , the woman who took the last name Jay -Z, Carter.
And now they have become something else: the latest fodder for America's simmering dispute over the marriage.
It happened when Beyoncé released a new video - song "Drunk in Love" , about the joys of sex in marriage , and then late last month performed the number, with a guest rap by her husband , at the Grammy Awards . The Internet lit up with anything from ecstasy to contempt.
" No good reason for a married mother on a chair with her legs gaped for the whole world to see , to be open , " Afiya Watkins wrote in a vibrant Facebook debate on one of the movements of the singer in performance. Others hissed Beyoncé's " half-naked demonic way ," and urged them to " keep it in the bedroom. "
But others reveled in a pop- cultural moment , the cast marriage as sexy and sophisticated . "When in the 30s and with children not dead , we mean " Alexsa Nouri wrote on Facebook. A Tina Vasquez wrote on Twitter : " Beyoncé and Jay -Z show more intimacy has done in a five-minute power than my parents in 20 years of marriage. "

Soon after , Alyssa Rosenberg, stirred writing on the liberal blog Think Progress, the pot. She suggested that conservatives in general , and marriage boosters in particular , could use some of the Carters that project their union as " a declaration of intent , exciting well as the idea that marriage is to discipline wayward men or provide support for women to learn that can not economically manage on your own. "
At a time when the marriage is highly competitive and turn quickly to leave more Americans at once as an institution and sought by same-sex couples excluded, Mrs. Rosenberg provocation raises tough questions for both ends of the political spectrum .
The idea of marriage as Carter's ambassador is difficult for some on the left who accept the funding of the institution resist . There are concerns that this reduces other worthy ways of life. There are also fears that such promotion is a knit stitch to provide relief to the poor hold back with the suggestion that they build stable homes and move on when they both spouses. " The suspicion is that when people say , " marriage " , what they mean is " tax cuts for the rich and meaningless pabulum for the poor " , " in the words of Matt Yglesias , a prominent liberal commentator.
But the Carters ' portrait of marriage is just as unsettling for some on the right who would like to see promoted the institution , but be careful , its promotion in relation to the performance of the adult rather than family building. Promoted Speaking of performance of the couple, as well as another moment at the Grammys , marriage equality , the conservative National Organization for Marriage wrote on his blog : "We think that neither of last night the ' services ' are an ideal starting point for a proper understanding of marriage. "
John Mark Comer, a Christian pastor in Portland , Oregon, and author of the new book " Loveology " , reflects the country's ambivalence about marriage promotion in response to the Carters ' duet.
"It's a song about a woman who with her husband for the night, lusting after her husband, and really, really good sex, which is all good for , " he said, with Biblical quotations as support. But, he said , there are dangers in the sale of marriage as an adult -centered thrill : Thrills fade, and an enthusiastic duality , a pair of the richer joys of building to distract something about yourself in the world.
" The point of marriage is not marriage ," he said. " The point of marriage is something
